If you’ve paid a company to provide a service and you no longer need that service, they ought to refund you. Many insurance companies will do just that. However, not all will. Check the details of your policy. Some companies won’t refund your money if you voluntarily cancel your coverage. If you’re paid up for six months and have five months to go, it would be foolish to throw that money away. Even if they agree to pay you a refund, there may be some sort of monetary penalties attached to voluntary cancellation. Check with your insurance agent to find out more details. Don’t forget to ask when you can expect your refund.
